Pop file: El Canto del Loco (by Erik Noguera)

“El Canto del Loco” (sometimes abbreviated to “ECDL”) is a Spanish music band. Their music style is classified into pop rock, although their members recognise that in some cases, some of their songs belong to the power pop genre.
It was created in 1994 by Dani Martín and Iván Ganchegui (whom later, abandoned the band in 2002). After some years, the band finally was created by five members. Mainly influenced by other music bands from the 80’s and with five study albums, “El Canto del Loco” has achieved to sell more than one million copies in the market, becoming one of the most important music bands in the actual Spanish prospect.
They have received three nominations to the MTV Europe Music Awards for the “Best Spanish artist”, which they have won in two occasions. They were awarded with two “Music Wave Prizes” for the “Best live artist” (in 2004) and “Best artist or Spanish band” (in 2005).
