The members of the band met at the University College and Coldplay was formed in London in September 1998.
The members of Coldplay are Chris Martin (vocalist, pianist and guitarist), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (bassist) and Will Champion (drummer and multi-instrumental). Chris Martin writes all their music. Coldplay’s first major level release is Blue Room (1999) and it includes the epic song “Such a Rush”. Their best albums are Parachutes (2000) and Viva la vida or Death and All his friends (2008). Coldplay plays both Brit-pop and alternative rock music. Some of their best-known songs are “Yellow” and “Speed of Sound”. This year, Coldplay has won three Grammy Awards in the Categories for Song of Year for “Viva la vida”, Best Rock Album for Viva la vida or Death and All his friends, and the Best Vocal Pop Performance by a Duet or a Group for “Viva la vida”.
