The National Gallery Treasure Hunt (Unit 4)

Work in pairs. Explore The National Gallery website (http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/default.htm) to find out more about this London art museum.

Answer to the following questions:

1. On what famous London square is the National Gallery building?
2. On which day of the week can you visit it late in the evening?
3. Are there any musical performances at the National Gallery?
4. What is/are the current exhibition/s at the National Gallery?
5. Have a look at the Beginner's Guides in the Collection section. On what saints, usually depicted in many paintings, is there an explanation?
6. Give an example of painting depicting a personification of time.

For your oral presentation on a famous painting, choose a picture you like and send me the link, the name of the painting and the painter. This is an individual task.
You may have a look at Collection at a Glance or Collection Features. You can also have a look at Picture Library, where you can explore paintings by subjects, themes, artist, styles and timeline.
In your presentation you will have to be able to provide the name of the painting in Catalan/Castilian as well. How are you going to find it out? Where are you going to look it up?
